Episode 73: The story about letting go of calorie counting with Kelsey Ellis

“The way we talk about our bodies and the way we participate in diet culture impacts everybody. If we want everyone to feel included and safe and that they can be the fullest, whole version of themselves, then we need to do that for ourselves because that ultimately gives permission for others to do the same.” - Kelsey Ellis

Ali and Hannah are hanging out with the ultimate hype woman, Kelsey Ellis! Kelsey is an award-winning, body-positive, anti-diet health and fitness expert, who’s all about helping people break free from diet culture, unapologetically embracing what their bodies can do, and finding confidence in themselves and their curves. In this episode, Kelsey dives into her journey from buying into diet culture’s false promises to spotting the MASSIVE red flags it waves. From reminiscing about growing up in the body obsessed 90s/2000s and looking back at Pinterest boards from that time, laughing now at the absurdity of how we are all supposed to want to look the same. Through her unlearning and with the help of Intuitive Eating she embraced the idea of letting go of the numbers and outside metrics when it comes to movement, finding compassion for yourself and refocusing on the why behind moving your body in a connected way.
